Thank you for this gem. I needed it as a wife, mom, and grandma, as well as a ministry leader.

Some of the major people in the Bible did terrible things and often these are used as examples of God's mercy and use of "flawed" people. But I do not see the sermons draw out to the natural and spiritual conclusions. David, a rapist and a murderer, is held up as "a man after God's own heart" to justify ungodly pastors and presidents. Yet, the destruction was brutal in his family-also rapists and murderers, for generation and Israel as well. It also ignores the many places in Scripture that we are called to "righteous paths". Psalm 1 is a good example. The "path" matters greatly-not just the destination.

Thank you for this wisdom.

Courtney...thank you for writing this. For sharing your heart and thoughts with us. I believe this to be true. I am a Mom of 8 precious souls, and I am not a perfect mother. Many times I have been frustrated and impatient. I was reproved and encouraged at the same time while reading this. God bless you.

You know Courtney. It does matter. The ends may or may not be justified when an individual’s spirit is broken. How things are said and done, in love, are a lot more different than out of a desire to control individuals. Fear, when used that way, is influenced by Satan. Intimidation and reckless misuse of control demands a response. Usually, not a good end is foreshadowed.
